Properly prepping and wrapping the window opening prior to the new window installation will protect the area from moisture intrusion and allow for drainage if incidental moisture should get in. An opening that isn't properly prepared for the new window installation can cause the new window to fail, and lead to costly repairs to the exterior wall. Once the new windows are installed the perimeters require caulking with a manufacturer approved sealant. We use the proper sealant for your windows and exterior cladding to ensure a proper seal.
